Jyoto Umeshu is a traditional plum wine with a natural flavor made from fresh green plums. The Ume fruit is carefully selected according to the harvest conditions, such as Nanko-ume, Uguisuku-ume, and Shirakaga-ume. It is not flavored with fragrances, coloring agents, or acidifiers, but rather emphasizes a natural flavor that brings out the aroma and refreshing acidity of the real Ume fruit, and is highly valued both in Japan and abroad.

When the Hombo Brewery was founded, there had been a magnificent plum tree in the garden of the head of the family for generations, and the plum wine made from the fruit was renowned for its great taste. The shochu used to make plum wine at that time was the current 'Takaraboshi' shochu, which at the time was branded 'Hoshi'.
In the 'Hoshiyagura', the brewery where the plum wine is made, which takes its name from the brand name "Hoshiya's plum wine", which conveys the taste of the handmade plum wine of that time to the present, plum wine is made from fresh, high-quality plum fruits around June every year, valuing the natural flavour of the old days.
